Why is there a fee for this service?
As free resources for this service have dwindled, CarSeat411 was created to make available a level of Car Seat knowledge and expertise to the Kentuckiana area.  Unfortunately, we must charge to cover our insurance, recertification fees, inspection supply costs, and provide some minimal compensation for our time.

Who conducts the car seat inspections?
Every car seat inspection is conducted by a Nationally Certifed Child Seat Technician.  Each technician had to undergo a 32-hour Certification Course (conducted by SafeKids) and pass a written and practical exam.  In addition, the Child Seat Technician must maintain up-to-date child seat information and recertify every 2 years.
Our Child Seat Technicians have the experience in dealing with parents, grandparents, and caretakers of all experience levels and we strive to make your inspection session a very positive experience.  Since November 2004, our technicians have conducted well over 1,800 car seat inspections for the Kentuckiana area!

How long does it take to schedule an appointment?
When you place your request for an appointment, a representative will contact you within 2-5 days (often less) to schedule your time.  Please check the Calendar to see what dates are available.  If spaces are available, you will be scheduled at the next earliest posted date.
Please note:  Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have the resources to conduct emergency inspections(when your baby comes early!) on dates other than those that are posted, so please schedule your car seat inspection well in advance of your due date!

I placed a call a few days ago and have not heard from anyone yet- why is it taking so long for someone to get back with me?
CarSeat411 is managed by a firefighter (who works a 24/48 shift) who is also a mother of a 2 year old and a dedicated wife the other 48 hours!  With limited time and resources, CarSeat411 strives to meet the car seat inspection schedule demands while still creating a balanced family life (easier said than done!).  CarSeat411 asks that you be patient as we work to return your call as quickly as we possibly can.

Where are the inspections conducted?
All car seat inspections are conducted at Baptist Hospital East, on the ground floor of the parking garage.  As you pull into the parking garage, stay on the ground level and turn right.  Our inspection station will be located in the parking spaces to the right.  Click HERE for a map to Baptist Hospital East.

What should I bring to the appointment?
For an infant car seat, please bring the base, infant carrier, car seat instruction booklet, and your vehicle's manufacturer booklet.
For a convertible or booster seat, please bring the seat, car seat instruction booklet, and your vehicle's manufacturer booklet.
In addition, please bring your inspection fee (via check or cash-exact amount appreciated!) for the listed amount of cars/seats.

What if I am running late for an appointment or need to cancel?
If you are running late for an appointment, please give us a call at 817-6462 to let us know.  Depending on how late you are, you may have to wait as we serve those individuals who are there for their allotted time.
At this time we are NOT charging a cancellation fee and as such, we just ask that you give us as much notice as possible.  We understand that there may be circumstances that may not allow you to cancel until the last minute, so please, just give us call as soon as you can!

What if I have any other questions or concerns?
Don't hesitate to give us a call at 817-6462 or email us at CarSeat411@aol.com.  We will answer you within 2-5 days (unless extenuating circumstances occur).
